William Dimock< no role > of Oxford Road in the County of Middlesex
Coach Master maketh Oath and saith that on the twentieth day of April
Instanthe this Deponent went to the New Coin Market in Mark Lane
within the City of London along with one Thomas Bird< no role > in order to buy
some Oats and that he the said Thomas Bird< no role > in this Deponents presence
bought a quantity of midling English Oats in the said Market and gave for the
same after the Rate of Sixteen Shillings and three pence the Quarter and
that on the same Day the Common Market price of midling English Oats
sold in the said Market exceeded the Sum of Sixteen Shilllings the Quarter
And this Deponent further said that on the twenty seventh day of this
Instant April he bought a quantity of midling English Oats in the said
Market and gave for the same after the Rate of Sixteen Shillings and
nine pence the Quarter and that on the said last mentioned Day the
Common Market Price of midling English oats sold in the said Market
exceeded the Sum of Sixteen Shillings the Quarter And this Deponent further
saith that since the month of October last past he hath frequently gone to
the said Market, and hath constantly found very few midling English Oats
to be sold there but that the Common Market Price of middling English
Oats sold in the said Market hath generally since the Month of October last
exceeded the Sum of Sixteen Shillings the Quarter as he this Deponent hath been informed and verily believes And their Deponent
further saith that he doth verily and in his Conscience beleive that there
is a very great Scarcity of midling English oats not only at the London
Market but also within the Kingdom in general And further saith
that he is possessed of a Leasehold Estate of the clear yearly value of Fifty
pounds and upwards over and above all Charges and Reprizes and that
he is skilfull n the prices of Oats and other Corn and that he is a
Housekeeper and lives in the County of Middlesex and is not a Corn
Chandler Mealman Factor or a Merchant concerned in the Importation
of Corn or any way Interested in any Oats to be Imposed
