John Brown< no role > now a Prisoner in Newgate on the above
Indictment maketh Oath and Saith that he since the time
he was taken up by a Warrant of the Right Honourable the
Lord Mayor hath never seen the Person named Elizabeth
Thompson< no role > in the Affidavit of Elizabeth Plunket< no role > mentioned And
this Deponent further Saith that he at any time before or since
his being so taken up as aforesaid hath never by himself or letter
Message, Friends, or any other way whatsoever prevailed upon or
Endeavoured to Prevail upon the said Elizabeth Thompson< no role > or any
other Person or Persons whatsoever to Keep out of the way and
not to give Evidence against this Deponent And this Deponent saith
that no Person appeared before the Right Honourable the Lord
Mayor to Prosecute this Indictment except Elizabeth< no role > the Wife
of one Thomas Walker< no role > who before the said Lord Mayor deposed
that this Deponent was the Person charged in and by the said
Indictment and that the reason he was not prosecuted before was
because this Deponent had absconded and could not be found for
three years last past, Whereas this Deponent saith for a great
Part of the said Three Years this Deponent lived Publickly
with the said Elizabeth Walker< no role > before her Marriage with the
said Thomas Walker< no role > and hath allways been a very Publick
Man open and Amenable to Justice And this Deponent lastly
Saith that he is not Guilty of any of the Offences charged in the
Indictment and that the Prosecution is carried on by the said
Thomas Walker< no role > and Elizabeth< no role > his Wife meerly to Extort a Bond
of Five Hundred Pounds from this Deponent
