Middlesex ss:

The several Informations of Joseph Allen< no role >
Edward Grace< no role > and James Cox< no role > take before
me One of his Majestys Justices of the
Peace for the said County.

Who being severally upon Oath say And first the sd Joseph
Allen
< no role > for himself saith that the two Snuff Boxes now produced
were brought to him as a Wrokman to fit them up by a Servant
on One Dry butter who keeps a Shop in Westminster & all who
told this Informant that he brought the sd Boxes from the said
Dry butter his Master with Directions for this Informt. to fit
up the said Boxes, And says that his Servant rubbed out the
Mark set in One of the said Boxes, and has also rubbed out
the Mark in the other had not this Informt. for bid him And
the sd. Edward Grace< no role > and James Cox< no role > for the themselves say that
One of the sd Boxes marked 26.23 is the Property of these
Informts. and stolen from them, and say that they verily
believe that the other Box is also their property and also
stolen from them but the Mark being rubbed out they cannot
possitively swear to it, And these Informants say that upon
Charging the said Dry butter with stealing the said Boxes
the said Drybutter confessed the taking but the said Boxes
out of their Shop and the said Dry butter first say'd that the
Price put upon them was Twenty Seven Shillings for One, and
thirty Shillings for the other and that they were both Intrusted
to him by James Cox< no role > one of these Informants but afterwards
the said Dry butter say'd that the said James Cox< no role > fixed the
Price of One at Thirty Three Shillings and the Other atThirty
Forty five Shillings neither of which Accounts of the said
