might be granted to him afd the Court should seem meet, And Whereas the prise hearing
and determination of the matter of the said Appeal stands duly Adjourned unto the present
session Now upon hearing of what is alledged as well on behalf of the said Johnlyles as on behalf
of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parish of Saint Budget otherwise Brides
touching the premisses and upon full examination of the matter of the Petition and Appeal It doth
appear in Evidence to this Court and is admitted by all parties that his present Majesty by virtue of
his Letters patent bearing date the fifth day of March in the first Year of his reign gave and thereby
granted unto the said John Eyles< no role > the said Office of Warden or Keeper of the Fleet and the Custody of the
prison and Gaol of the Fleet situate and being in the parish of Saint Bridges otherwise Serv'd Brides within
Ludgate London and of the premises committed or to be committed to the prison and Gaol of the Fleet
aforesaid And the Capital Messuage for the Custody of the prisoners and thirteen Messuages in the
parish aforesaid And all other Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments to the said Office
belonging and appertaining and all those Rents or Annual payments issueing from and out of the
Messuages Lands and Tenements within his said City of London and Suburbs of the same to the said
Office and Custody of the prison and Gaol of the Fleet aforesaid belongings and appretaining Audall the other
Fees Salaries Rents profits Emoluments Commodities priviledges and thereditaments to the said Office
and prison and to the Keeper or Custody of the same or either of them in anywise belonging or
appertaining And him the said John Eyles< no role > Warden or Keeper of the Fleet and of the prison and
Gaol of the Fleet aforesaid did make and constitute by the said Letters patent To have hold and
excuse the said Offices Messuages Lands Tenements Rents Annuties fees Salaries Liberties profits
advantages and thereditaments aforesaid and all and singular other the promisses aforesaid with
their and every of their Appurtenances unto the said John Eyles< no role > by himself or his sufficient Deputy
or Deputies for whom he should be answerable for and during the will and pleasure of his said
Majesty his Heirs and Successors in as ample a manner and form as his Father John Eyles< no role >
deceased or any other Warden of his said Majesty's prison of the Fleet aforesaid and Keeper of
the palaces of Westminster aforesaid or either of them theretofore [..] had held used or enjoyed
or ought to have had hold used or enjoyed the said Office and other the premisses aforesaid or any
or either of them And it further appears to this Court in Evidense and is admitted by all
parties that the thirteen Messuages mentioned in the said Letters Patent have since the date
thereof been reduced in number to nine distinct Tenements or Messuages the Occupiers of Such
are respectively Assessed and rates in the parish Books and are not inducted in the above
Complained of Rate And that the Capital Messuage in the said Letters Patent mentioned
is occupied the prisoners committed and detained in the said prison in the Custody of the
said
