Thomas Compton< no role > of Moore Lane Book keeper to the Yorkshire Carryer at the White Bear
John Bazinghall Street Maketh Oath & Saith that about Six a Seven Weeks ago he saw
the Deced Samuel Denton< no role > At this Masters Stable which was near this Depont: Stable
Sitting on the Sill of the Door; Says that he touched him very Slightly on the Back [..]
and Asked him if he would have some hag bands for his Jack Ass Upon which he cryed
out & said that he was very Soe & not well for that his Master has beat him This
Depont. Says that he never saw his Master strike him And that he knows the
Master very well and bears a very good Character

John Dennis< no role > of Grub Street Watchman Maketh Oath & Saith that on friday the
20th: of April betrioxt I & to at Night he saw Thos. Pearson< no role > the Master [..] the
Deced Samuel Denton< no role > and beat him with the lash end of a horse whip, And saw him
Knsik his Head against Mr: Willers Door and then lugd him home to his own
house, And that the boy cryed out very much & sd. Dr. Sr: dent beat me for that he
would not do the like again, to which the Master replyed that he could take
care he should not This Depont. further Saith that when they were within Doors
he heard the Deced cry out very much but what he sd. this Depont. knows not
