Peter Dela< no role > fontaine the Deft and Benjamin Stevens< no role > of Bull
Warf Thames Street London Bricklayer Severally Make Oath And
this Dept. Peter dela fontaine for himself Saith That Maria Le Grand< no role > now residing in Paris Martha Partridge< no role > her Servant are
Material Witnesses for this Dept. in this Cause and without their
Testimony he cannot Safely proceed to try and make a proper defence
against this Indictment And further Saith the said Maria le Grand
and Martha Partridge< no role > did in June last go from London to Pariss in
France beyond the Seas and are not yet returned but this Dept.
verily beleives they will both of them return and Come to London
in the Month of November or beginning of December next And
the said Benjamin Stevens< no role > for him self Saith That he knows the
said Maria le Grand and Martha Partridge< no role > who were both lately
in London and in or about June last went t Paris in France
beyond the Seas and as he beleives are now there and not yet
returned and at the time of their going did Say they would return
in a few Months And this Dept. beleives they will come to
London in a very Short time

Old Bailey in the Suburbs of the
City of London the 15th. day of October
1746
