The Examination of John Martin< no role > taken this Day upon Oath before
me one of his Majestys Justices of the peace for the City of London
and the Liberties thereof at the Guildhall of the said City

Saith That about a Week ago John Jeffs< no role > and he this Examinant lifted up a Sash
Window in Clerkenwell Green at a Chandler Shop, where Jeffs went in but finding
nothing come out again that then he this Examinant went in and brought out a
Camblet Gown which they carryed off, That about three or four Days ago he this
Examinant and one James Bye< no role > went into a Horse Yard on the said Green where
they took from off a Line five Shirts two Bodys of Shifts three Aprons a Linnen
Gown an old course Apron and a Parsons Surplice which they sold to Susanna Clark< no role >
for thirteen Shillings and the Money was divided between them, Saith That about
a Week ago he this Examinant together with the said Jeffs and Bye went into
the said Green where he got into to House and took away to Blanketts one
Street and a Quilt which they sold to one Mrs Lucas a Washerwoman in
Blue Ancher Alley White Cross Street with whom he and the said Bye then lodged
who well hue [..] that the said Goods were stolen and that they lived upon Nothing
but Hiceving, Saith that about the same Time he and the said Jeffs going into
Leather Lane , Jeffs stopt in a Passage there and went into a House where
he got three or four Sheets which they sold for one Shillings to a little Girl at
the said Mrs Lucas's, Saith That he with one William Norman< no role > and William
Kirkby
< no role > have been several Times together in thereditch where they have taken
from several House there double Tubbs of Soap. Butter and Cheese as likewise a
Parcell of Stockings that the Stocking were sold to the said Susanna Clark< no role > and the
rest of the Things were sold to Bess Cane< no role > at Newgate for Sixteen Shillings and
that he and the said Norman and Kirkby have been several Times of picking of
Pockets of Handkerchiefs the particulars whereof he cannot wells remember That
about of Handkerchiefs the particulars whereof he cannot well remember That
about three Months ago he this Examinant together with Harkey Shenner< no role > and
William Long< no role > the last of which is transported went into the Strand where he
this Examinant lifted up the Sash of a Window near Saint Luke's Church and
went in and took a Searlet Cloak which they tossed up for and Shinner had it
