Night near Devonshire Square in Bishopsgate Street they picked another Gentleman's
Pocket of another Silver Watch which was taken by Jack the Sailor but the
Gentleman attempting to lay hold of them he was beat by Field Norman
Giles and Welles with Weapons they had with them some having Sticks and
other Cuthasses after which they all got away, This Examinant further saith,
That himself Field Gyles< no role > Wells Potbury and Billingsly went with the
Watches to Turbatts where they sold them for the Money before mentioned which
Money was equally divided into ten Parts amongst themThat about a
Month ago on a Sunday Night John Potbury< no role > , Samuel Bannister< no role > , Henry
Gadd
< no role > , William Norman< no role > , William Billingsly< no role > , Richard Morris< no role > , Thomas Wells< no role > , one
Long Will< no role > Joseph Field< no role > and himself stopped a Gentleman in Newgate Street
and Henry Gadd< no role > took a Silver Watch out of his Pocket while the others
held him That the same Night they stopped a fat Gentleman hear Hick's
Hall from whom Jack the Sailor took his Watch which was Silver whilst the
others held him That the Gentleman attempted to take hold of them but
they all got away the said Gentleman had on a light Wigg and a light
Grey Coat and the Robbery was committed about six o'Clock in the Evening
That the same Night about seven o'Clock they met a Person near the
Hospital in Smithfield and Billingsly going to feel for his Watch the
Gentleman gave Billingsly a Slap on the Face which he returned and
the Gentleman ran away but Billingsly and Jack the Sailor and others pursued
him and drew their Catlasses and wounded him and almost out of his
Finger and they also out Mother Person who came to his Assistance
That from thence they went into Vinegar Yard by Drury Lane Play House
where they stopped a Gentleman and Jack the Sailor took a Watch, out
of his Pocket with a Shagreen Case and Morris and Billingsly gave him
some Blows with their Sticks That the Gentleman seemed to follow
them whereupon they made an Attempt to draw their Hangers and so got
off That the same Night they stopt a Gentleman in Leicester Fields facing
the Prince of Wale's House where Jack the Sailor took from him being a
Bulkey Person a Silver Watch while the others held him that the Gentleman
seized on Field but Norman and Jack the Sailor came to his Assistance
and beat the Gentleman on his Stomack with their Sticks and their Fists by
means whereof Field was rescued and they all got away That the same Night
near Cranborn Alley in Long Acre they stopped another Gentleman and
Jack the Sailor took out of his Pocket a Gold Watch with a bread Chain
to it that the Gentleman pursued them but they all got away from
him whereupon they were separated but met again the same Night
at the Bull and Butcher at Cow Cross where they drunk together and
agreed to meet the next Day at one Neal's in Thatched Alley to sell
