Richard Shelton< no role > of London Gentleman , late Secretary to the Lords Proprietors of the Province
of Carolina in America maketh Oath, That he was Present and did See the Right Honourable
the Lord Carteret, by the Name and Addition of the Right Honourable John Lord Carteret Baron
of Hawnes and One of the Lords Proprietors of Carolina in America , Seal and as his Act and Deed
deliver to the Uses and Purposes therein mentioned and contained the Two Several Indenture now Exhibited
unto him this Deponent, whole and faced and uncancelled, bearing date the Eighteenth & Nineteenth
days of February One thousand Seven hundred and thirty, purporting and being Deeds of Lease and
Release, made or mentioned to be made, between the Said Lord Carteret of the One Part, and John Roberts< no role >
of Deans Court in the County of Middlesex Esquire of the Other Part, and that he this Deponent as a
Witness to the Sealing and Delivery thereof did on Each of then Write and Endorse his Name, as by the
Same, it doth and may Appear; And this Deponent further Saith That he was also Present and did See
the Said Lord Carteret Sign the Receipt on the Back of the Said Deed of Release, for the Sum of Four
hundred Pounds, being the consideration Money therein mentioned, and that he this Deponent as a Witness
to the Signing of the Said Receipt, did thereunto Subscribe his Name as thereby it doth and may Appear;
And Further this Deponent Saith That the Copies now also Ex [..] d to and Signed by him this Depon. are true
Copies of the Said Deeds of Lrase and Release, he ths Depont. having carefully Examined [..] Copies with their
Said Originals, and upon Such his Examination found the Same [..]
And further the Said Deponent Saith, That he was Serjent and [..] ble the Lord

for the Sum of Five hundred Pounds, bring the Consideration Money therein mentioned, and that he this Deponent
as a Witness to the Signing of the Said REceipt, did thereunto Subscribe his Name as there by it doth and may Appear
And Lastly this Depont. Saith, That the Copies now also Exhibited to and Signed by him this Depont. are true Copies
of the Said eeds of Lease and Release he this Eponent having carefully Examined the Said Copies with their Said
