Patric Barnewall< no role > Esqr : the Deft. in this Indictment Joseph Powell< no role >
of London Stationer James Mionnet< no role > Clerke to Mr. Janes the Defts Soxr. and
Susannah Austin< no role > wife of Benjn. Austin< no role > of St. Martins in the Feilds Tailler severally make oath & say as follows And
first the said Joseph Powell saith That he did about the thirtyeth of June last by
Ordr. of the said Defendt: Goe to Mr. Vanlentes the Prosecuters House at Old Ford in
Ordr to serve him with a notice in Writeing purporting that the Deft Intended to
putt in Bail to this Indictmt. at the last Sessions And to traverse & try the same
as at this present Sessions But this Dept. being then told by a maid servant there
that the said Vanlenter was not at home This Dept offer'd to leave the said Notice with
her for the said Vantente but she utterly refused & wod. not takein the same
Whereupon this Dept. being Informed that one Mr Manister Acted as Sollr. for the
said Prosecuter in this Indictment he this Dept. did the next day find out & Psonally
serve the said Mr. Manister with a copy of the said Notice who Accepted thereof
as sollr. for the said Vanlente And this Dept James Mionnet for himself saith
that he did on Saturday the twenty first of Augt. Instant personally serve the said Mr.
Manister with a Notice in Writeing purporting that the said Deft. intended to
bring on this Indictment for Tryall as at this present Sessions according to the said
former Notice who Accepted thereof And this Dept: Patrick Barnewall for himself
saith he is Credibly Informed & verily believes That Mr. Clement Farnham< no role > one of
the Persons menconed in Mr. Vanlentas Affidt. & prtended to be a material Witness
for him went abot. two or three yrs agoe into Ireland in order to reside there And that
he hath never since been in England But that he is now in Ireland if liveing And this
Dept. the rather believes the same to be true for that the said Farnham before his
goeing away told this Dept. he had been very much abused by the said Vanlente &
ruind by him And that he shod. be forced to goe away upon his Account or what he said
was to that Effect And the said Vanlente himself told this Dept. that the said
Farnham was in Ireland and that he never Expeced him back again because as
he pretended he owed him the said Vanlente money And the said Vanlente alsoe
declared he would putt the said Farnham into Prison if Ever he could Catch him &
that he shod. Rott there or used Expressions to that Effect and as to the said
Farnhams being a Materiall Witness for the said Vanlenter as pretended this Dept.
believes he knew but very little if any thing of the Mres now in Queen but if any
thing thereof he did know this Dept. would gladly have had him as a Witness for
him this Dept. had it been possible for him soe to doe but believes't is not possible
for the reason aforesaid and he alsoe believes the said Vanlente very well knew
the same to be soe before the Makeing of his said Affidt: And this Dept. Susanah
Austin for herself saith That she saw Mr. John Cope< no role > (menconed in the said
Vanlentes
