in this Cause maketh Oath that he this Dept did this Seventeenth Day of
January Go to the place of John Shelmerdine< no role > Abode and was their Informed
by his wife, That she had not lately Seen him, and that she could not tell
this Dept where he was to be found, but said She beleived she should See him
before next Sessions And this Dept. Saith he hath Severall other times
since last Sessions made all the Inquiry Imaginable after the said
Shelmerdine in Order for to have him Attend to be an Evidence in this
Cause, and this Dept. Saith the said John Shelmerdine< no role > is a Materiall Witness
for the Prosecutor, & that without his Evidence the Prosecutor can't pceed
to try his Cause with any Manner of Safety (as this Dept. beleives) And this
Dept. further Saith he veryly beleives the said John Shelmerdine< no role > Kept out of
the way by John Tayler< no role > the sd. Parker's Son in Law & George Simpson< no role >
his Clerke or by one of them
