Deponant did deliver into ye possession of Benja Tomkins< no role > Junr of
Abingdon in the County of Berks , to be carried to London by his Barge
and to be sold there by him 43 qs of this Deponant, own malts, which he
this Deponant made at the House of James Geater< no role > in Burford in Oxford Mr
the lapt malling season, for all which malt he Unto Deponant doth hereby
make oath that he have paid ye full Excise Due to his Majesty into ye hands
of Mr [..] ones William Batts< no role > [..] his Majestys Collector of Excise
Ano this Deponant have been since ye time first mentioned herein credibly
informed by his factor ye said Benja Tomkins< no role > Junior that ye said 43 qr
of malts after it was carried to London and Delivered out of ye barge of
the said Benja Tomkins< no role > Junior into ye lighter yt Richard Howard< no role >
Lighterman was on ye 7th day of this Instant October drouned or
wetted in ye said Laghter in ye River of Thames as it was passing
from Queen Hith to ye Wharfe of Mr Josias Nickolson< no role > Brewer in
Thames Street and that part of ye said 43 gr of malts is intirely lost
and ye remaining part thereof perished In Witness whereof he
this Deponant have hereunto set his hand
