[..] without in the Parish of St Butolph without
Bishopgate Copper Smith taken this twenty second day
of July 1720

Who upon his Oath deposeth and Saith that on the seven'th
of this Instant July he had feloniously Stolen from him
a piece of Copper of thirteen pounds weight value about
twelve Shillings and hath a Violent Suspition that John
Tracy
< no role > hath Stolen the Same he having confess'd to this Depont.
that he sold the said peies of Copper to one Mrs.
Shakespear for six Shillings and Sixpence

The Examination of John Tracy< no role > taken this twenty
second day of July 1720

Who upon his Examination Saith that about afortnight
since he was sitting at an Ale house door in Bishopgate street
and that two little Boys came by, one of em having a piece of
Copper upon his head weighing about thirteen pounds who
told him that they found the said piece of Copper between
that Place and Nortinforgate and that the said Boy's Sold it
to him for four pence and further saith that he sold the
said perie of Copper to MrsShakespear a Founder
in Old Bethlehem for Six Shillings & Six Pence but Saith that
he did not Steal the same
