On or about the beginning of October last Mr. John Bigge< no role > at his own house in
Buttolph. Lane asked me the following Question vizt. Whether I was willing to run the
hazard of my Neck to get Ten Thousand Pounds. to which I answerd, yt if the probability
of getting so much Money nere equal to the Hazard, perhaps I might at the same Time
wheming it a foolish & Tole Question. Divers times afterwards he insinuated the same
thing to men. wch. I still accounted as some indigested Notion he had in his Head, than as
any real Design he had formed, & which being only hinted to me in common Discourse
[..] by & thought no longer on it than during the time [..] dasted.

But some small time after having legun after the same Manner [..] had several Times
upon Sus [..] d him what Method in proposed to himself [..] :might be so very advanta
mon [..] having enjoyned me [..] he told me his d [..] was to take off or alter the
[..] hants of Bank Notes: and thereupon shewed me a Banke [..] Note dawn for £44:- where of
[..] said [..] Thirty Four Pounds, & had taken off the Endorsemt: [..] in drying [..]
the Note before a Fire had Scorched or discolour'd the Paper in such Manner that it was of
[..] use having viwed the said Note I told him I thought it impossible he could perform what
[..] att [..] lid and that [..] would believe it could be done untill [..] I
[..] as it.

He ap [..] as (as [..] ee about the beginning of November) showed me an £100 Bank Note
[..] received £854 of which Endorsmt. he had taken out the word Eighty or the
[..] rom fint Lithn thereof in order to alter it to the word Twenty but having camper'd with
several times he had stained the paper and thereby renderd the Bill useless. I then told him
[..] is Project was not likely to succeed that I would advise him to think no more of it, and
that for my own part I would have nothing to do in any such affair.

Here the matter restes and I heard nothing farther from him till (as near as I can remember
the Middle of January, About which Time he told me he was positive he could bring this
Matter to a full Perfection and to comm [..] ye. so could [..] taken of the
[..] dorsemt. of the Note of £44: first menconed very [..] and asked me whether I had
[..] rved any traces of the Pen or any Marks of the Letters remaining: wch: I confess'd I had
[..]
