George Everett< no role > of the Parrish of Rotherhithe in the County of Surry
Shipwright , Maketh Oath that on ye 21th day of Janur: 1698 he this Deponent was
committed by (Sr John Hublond< no role > ) to ye Poultery Compter for Compounding
with Offenders Imberling Navall Stores (Not nameing any Prsons) & that on ye 26th
day of ye Same Moneth he this Deponent being then in Prisson was Summoned to make
his Prsonall appearence at ye Kings Bench barr on ye 30th of ye Said Moneth to answer
Severall Tresspases & Misdemenors, & being under Confinement did appear by
Mr Leighton a Clarke of ye Crown Office, & that dureing his Confinement which was six weeks there
passed one Terme & one Sessions of ye peace & noe Indictment or Information brought against
him, And this Deponent farther deposeth that on ye 3d Day of March 1698 he was discharged out
of Prisson upon Baile given to Sr John Hubland for his appearence At ye Sessions of ye peace
or ye Old Baily Kings Bench or Excheqr Court to answer to such Accusations or Informations as
should be brought against him in ye Kings Name or otherwise Which being not bounded to any
Certaine time Matter or place he this Deponent did attend at ye Sessions of Oyer & Terminer
held for ye Cownty of Cherry in March 1698/9 that being ye Cownty wherein ye Matter in Charge
against him this Deponent was transacted & did then & there Indicte Jasper Borman< no role > Charles
Huggitt
< no role > & Sevll others for being possesed of his Majties Navall Stores. And farther deposeth that
at ye Sessions of ye peace held for ye Citty of London & Middlx in Aprill 1699 he this Deponent
did attend at Hicksess hall Guild hall ye Old Baily ye Crown & Excheqr Office & did not heare
of any Indictment brought against him untill ye Said Sessions Ended (beleiveing when ye said Indictmt was moveing at ye old Baily he was attending ye other Courts:) being then Informed
that an Indictment was lodged in ye Old Baily against him in ye Name of ye aforesaid Jasper
Borman
< no role > he this Deponent on ye 29o of Aprill did Enter into Recognizance before ye Rt honoble: ye
Ld Cheefe Justice Holte with Sufficient Sureties for his Prsonall appearence at ye next Sessions
to be held at ye old Baily which Sessions began ye 24th of May 1699 & he this Deponent farther
deposeth that he was plantiffe with ye King in a Cawse long depending in ye Excheqr Cowrt which said
Cawse was Summoned to tryall & was tryed that verry day to vitt ye 24th of May late at Night & that he this
deponent being at ye Temple ye next Morning ye 25 of May in order to prpare for his Tryall at ye old Baily
he was to his great Supprize taken up (without a Constable) by a Warrant under Pretence of flyeing from
Justice, allthough ye Prson supprizeing well Knew that he this Deponent did frequently attend at ye Excheqr
Cowrt & had a Superizeing granted by ye Ld Cheefe Justice Holte upon giveing baile as aforesaid, And this
deponent farther deposeth that on or about ye 10th day of July 1699 he was then Indicted for Receiveing
of Charles Huggitt two pistoles to Compound his Offence of Imberling Navall Stores & that on ye Fryday
following he this Deponent was tryed & Convicted at ye old Baily upon both ye indictments & ye next day
was Fined soo Markes which by ye favour of that Honoble Court was Reduced to 50 Nobles which as he was Informed
was paid upon his discharge, And farther deposeth that he Never absconded his baile or fled from Justice
purring ye whole time of these proceedings
