Rudyard Midd


By an order of Sessions dated the 13th of Aprill Anne Dm 1697 one Alice Rudyard< no role >
an Infant aged about Three Yeares was settled on the Parish of St. AndrewHolbourne
above Barrs untill they could hee themselves thereof by due course of Lawe.}

That on the 20th. of the sd. Month of Aprill informacon be given to the
Churchwarden & overseers of the sd. Parish that one Alice Rudyard< no role > of the Parish
of St. Mary Alder Mary London Widd a person of great ability & Grandmother to
the sd. Infant by the fathers side the sd Overseers upon the Sd. Informacon tooke
out the Recorders Warrt. bearing date the sd. 20th. of Aprill agst. the Sd Alice the
Sd. Grandmother to force her to take the sd. Infant and to Indempnify the said
Parish from the Charge thereof.}
The Recordrs. Warrt ye 20th Aprill 1697

That the sd. Parish of St. Andrew Holbourne hath been at great charge
in prosecuting the sd. Grandmother and maintaining the Sd. Infant occasioned by
the sd. Grandmothers not appearing upon her recognizance at Sessions but hath
hitherto delayed the prosecutors and pretends that her son Bensa Rudyard< no role >
was never Married to the sd. Infants mother}
Taken up by another Warrt
and forfeited her recognizance

Noate That the sd Benjamin Rudyard< no role > son to the sd. Alice Rudyard< no role > the Grandmother
was married in the pland of Barbades beyond the seas as by a Certificate
bearing date the 26th. of February to1692/3 signed by the person & two witnesses
who are now all beyond the seas but the witnesses hands are proved by Mr John
Rudyard

To: Prove the giving of her away in Marriage an affidavit made before
Justice Eyres the 10th of May 1694 signed by Coll. Garth who is now beyond the
sea but the hand of the sd. Coll Garth [..] ged by Mr. Buxton}

Barbades one John Griffith< no role > made affidavit thereof before Sr . Roger Langley< no role >
one of his Maties Justices of the peace for the County of Midx who certifys
under his hand}

Capt. Wickham Capt. of the Diamond Frigett made an affidavit of the said
Marriage but part of the affidit is torn and the Sd Wickham is now at Yorker }

To prove the cohabiting of Mr. Benjamin Rudyard< no role > and his wife and
of his owning her as his wife}

That the sd. Alice Rudyard< no role > the Grandmother could never be prevailed upon to try the matter of fact whilst the
witnesses were in England but hath taken this oppertunity to try the same in their absence the father of the
Infant died possessed of a very considerable personall Estate And left no other child but the Infant aforesd
And by this meanes the Grandmother endeavours to bastardize the Infant that she may gett the effects to her
own use that the sd. Infants father left

allowance for tyme to come referred to Mr. Recorder
