Robert Bennison< no role > maketh Oath That in the month
of October 1689 St Mary Overies Church in South warke
was Robbed and in the month of November 1689 St
St Bartholmewes Church in London was Robbed by
Christopher Ashly< no role > of the Pish of White Chappell and
Robert Collett< no role > who formerly lived in Hungerford markett
and was comitted to Newgate for making Tooles for
walkingCoyneing of money and thereof was convicted,
And this Depont: further maketh That Edmund Older shaw at
late of St Anns Lane Goldsmith did buy the plate that
was stolue out of the said Churches knowing lye same
to be stolue, and that John Whitwood< no role > who then lived in
the Old Bayley was privie to the buying ofthatSt Mary veries plate
he the Said Whittwood knowing the said plate was stolue,
And this depont: further maketh Oath that in March
last was three yeares the Countess of Portlands house in
the Pellmell was Robbed by Edward Poore< no role > & Anthoine
St Leger
< no role > & others who feloniously tooke away about three
hundred pounds worth of Plate, and they haveing ye same
plate in theire Custodie the said John Whittwood die Seize
upon all the Said Plate and retorned about one hundred &
twentie Pounds worth to the said Countess, for wch he had about
thirtie pounds as a reward and all the rest of ye plate
the said Whitwood converted to his owne use, and after ye.
said whitwood had gotten the said plate he sent ye Said
Poore and St. Leger into Ireland or Some other place be
yard the Seas, Since wch time the said Poore & St Leger
are come into England and have beene diver times at
the said Whitwoods house, And this depont:further maketh
Oath that in August last the above named Christopher
Ashley
< no role > did steale two silver I an Pard from ye Woman
that keepes the Cock in at Redburne in ye Countie of Hertford
and the said Whitwoodbeingwas imployed to find out ye Tankards
he and there upon oneHicks dies appliend ye said Ashley
and carriyed him before st Willim Turner who sent him to
Newgate till he could have a further Information of yt Matter
and then the said Whittwood Pr Hydeey to Send for the Psons that lost ye
plate, and in the meane time the said Ashley gave ye said
Whittwood and Hicks twenty Odd pounds to stifle the
Said
