John Thompson< no role > keeps the Crown Ale
House in Ale pye Street that last Friday about Nine o'Clock
in the Evening he saw Francis Fleming< no role > James Underhill< no role >
and other persons drinking at his House that this Infort. drew a pint of
half & half for James underhill who drank fint [..] gave
it to Francis Fleming< no role > yt this Infort. is not acquainted with
the person of John Cumberlidge< no role > says he might have been
in Company-Knows Shoulders alias Struck & thinks he was
in his House does not recollect seeing Samuel Young< no role >
alias Leggy but says he might have been there as there was

The Voluntary Confession of Francis Fleming< no role > taken this
27th day of Janr. 1789 who says yt last Friday Evening about Eight o'Clock
this Infort was at Mr Thompsons the Crown in Pye St. St. John that
James underhill< no role > , Saml Young< no role > alias leggy One Sheep a Chimney
Sweeper and a Squat had name unknown come taking there yt James underhill
told this Infort, they had an Axle Free & Wheel in his Yard yt
they must Frock to pieces & sell for Wright yt they all went
to this Infort Yard that this Infort. borrowed of Mr. Davine a
Hammer a Chisewell to [..] the Wheel of yt after the Fire
was got off they weighd it to 26 or 28 to yt the Axle Wd. 58 the
that this Infor. sd into the hands of sd. James underhill in Silver
& half pence Six shillings & Nine Pence & a pot of half &
face for it Further this Infort. says yt. Thompson the landlord of
ye Crown was in the Crown Tap Room when the above persons
met at this house that there is no Gate or Gates into this Infort. Yard
not could the sd. Axle be got through his House & further says that the sd.
Axle Free the Wheel must have been got over the Walls that says
rates this Infort. Yard from Mr. Kertons by the said Four Men yt
this Infort. says he expected an Axle & Wheel & had asked Mr. Davine
wt he would give for it who said Eleven Shillings from yt on Sater
day Morning the Infort. went about Eight o'Clock to sd. Mr Davines saw him
in Bed & told him he had got the Axle Free this Infort. had spoke
to him about that one of Mr. Davine Men Philip Jones< no role > went with form to
his house to fetch the Axle & Fire that was taken of the Wheel
yt this Infort Coverd the sd. Axle Free with Cloths & ordered said Phillip
Jones
< no role > to take it with some time Mr. Davines his master & go round by Orchard St.
yt this Infort. followed sd. Phillip Jones to Mr. Davines who gave this Infort
for the Fire Two Shillings & Nine pence yt a Man of ye Name of sd.
Wells came & told sd. Mr. Davine & this Infort. that the Axle Fire be
longed to Mr. Kerton & that a Search Warrant would be Instantly
granted that Either this Infort or sd. Mr. Davine told sd. Phillip Jones< no role > to
throw the sd. Iron Axle Free on the Ruins St. Ann Lane that sd. Phillip
did take and of the Neck gates & that the Infort. saw him threw sd. Axle there yt the Axle now
produced in the same that this Infort. bought of James underhill & the
other Men Taken this 28th Jany
