The Voluntary Examination of Richard
Cheer
< no role > charged with Felony taken before me this
30th. day of January 1787 .

Whobeing [..] saith that he is a
Labourer and work'd last for His Grace the Duke
of Marlbro at Lion Hill That during the time
he work'd for the Duke he got acquainted with are
William Bowman< no role > and that he also knows one
William Cadle< no role > who is now in New Prison
Clerkenwell in Execution for assaulting Thomas
Field
< no role > a Constable at Isleworth That about five
Weeks ago said Cadle told this Examinant and
said Bowman that he had a Handkerchief in Pawn
at one John Fuller< no role > 's at Brentford end and that he
had observed a Coat and Waistcoat hanging in the
said Shop which he thought would be very easy
to steal That it was agreed between them that
said Cadle should go in for the Handkerchief and
that the other two should steal the said Coat and
Waistcoat That said Cadle went into the said
Shop and said Bowman put his Hand into said
Shop and took the said Coat but could not get the
Waistcoat and that said Cadle brought away
the said Waistcoat during this time this Examt.
was at the door That the next Morning being Sunday
the said Cadle came to this Examinant and told
him that said Bowman and he (Cadle) that stolen
some Gowns and two pair of Breeches out of the
said Shop and desired this Examinant to go with
him to said Bowmans where the things then were
to take them to Charles Frime< no role > 's and desired him
to sell them for him That he went with said Cadle
to said Bowman's accordingly and took from thence
three Gowns and one pair of Breecher (the other
being worn by Bowmans) and said Coat and
Waistcoat and Carried them to Charles Frime< no role > 's
