Who Saith that on the fourth day of April 1786 as this
Examinant verily believes (he was on board the Happy go
Lucky, to which he had belonged about a Week, and was
a Smuggling Vessel and commanded ley one Thomas
Willard< no role >
that at the time of said Vessel's Arrival off the
Lizzard
an Action began between said Happy go Lucky
and the Hawke Lugger in the service of the Customsthat
during said Action said Willard repeatedly [..] directed
this Examinant to firethat he refused so to do when
said Willard fired a Pistol at him but missed him and
wounded another Man on board that in about a quarter
of an hour afterwards said Willard was Shot in the head and
expired and several other Men on board wounded, soon after
which said Happy Go Lucky together with the persons on board
were surrendered to Mr. John Douglas< no role >
