The Information of Benjamin Bayley< no role > Robert Taylor< no role >
Thomas Vernor< no role > and George Jones< no role > taken before me this
31st. Day of December 1781.

Who being on Oath say and first the said Benjamin Bayley< no role > says that
on Saturday night last between 8 & 9 o'Clock as he was carrying a
from tied up in a Cloth and a Basket as he believes containing two
[..] along Goswell Street Road he was met by a Person now
present who calls himself James Riley< no role > and another Man. That
the said James Riley< no role > took held of this Informant by his collar,
presented a Pistol like that now produced. This Informant then
asked him if he meant to Murder him and cried out Murder"
that Riley then threw his Pistol away but kept hold of his
collar and by force took his Bundle and Basket from him. That a
Struggle ensued between Riley & this Informant, by which he let
[..] the Basket and Bundle and they both fell on the Ground,
when Riley called out to his Companion and said" Damn your
Oyes why don't you lay hold of the Basket"That the other
Man picked the Bundle and Basket up accordingly when this
Informant laid hold of one of his Legs and threw him down by
which means his Hat flew off that the said Man got up
again and ran off leaving his that and the Bundle & Basket
behind him. That Shen upon said Robb Taylor's coming up to his
Assistance, they secured the said Riley. And said Robert
Taylor< no role > says that upon the said Bayley crying out murder, he
Ran to his Assistance whom he found struggling with said Riley
and whom he assisted in securing him. And said Thomas Vernon< no role >
says that the next morning he found the Pistol now produced
about ten Yards distant from the place where said Bayley
was attacked. And the said George Jones< no role > says that when
