The Information of James Elliott< no role > of No 84 in
Oxford Street Mary bone Jeweller and Silversmith
and John Howard< no role > Clerk to Messrs: Brown Collinson
& Co. of Lombard Street Bantrers - taken before
me this 7th. day of August 1781.

Who being on Oath say and first the said James Elliott< no role > says
that on Tuesday the 31st. day of July last a Person now present
who calls himself John Shepherd< no role > , came to this Informants shop
in Oxford Street and desired to look at some Silver Buckles;
that this Informant shewed him several Pair and after some
time the said Shepherd fixed on one pair at the price of
four Guineas. That said Shepherd then looked at some paste
Knee buckles and Choosed a pair at One pound eighteen Shillings
That he then chosed a Gord Pin at the Price of four Shillings
That when he came to pay for the said Goods he pulled out
of his pocket an Order for the Payment of Money now
produced, purporting to be the Order of H Turner, to Mr.
John Atkins< no role > or Bearer on Messrs. Brown Collinson & Co Lombard
Street , for the Payment of Six pounds Six Shillings for
Value reced, and dated Green Street July 31st. 1781. That
the said Shepherd then published the said Order for payment
of Money to this Informant as true. That he said it was a
Draught on a Banker & would be paid when presented. That
after this the said Shepherd be spoke a Pair of Spurs and
in order that they might be sent to him, gave this Informant
his Address. That considering said Shepherds name to he
Turner from the face of said Order, this Informant
began entering his Address in his Book and had put
