The Information of Arnold George< no role > Apprentice to George
Betts
< no role > of Horsely Down in the County of Surrey taken
before me John Sherwood< no role > Esqr one of his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace Acting in and for the said County

Who on his Oath saith that on Christmas
Eve lastthat on Christmashe this Deponent with
Benjamin Batchleor< no role > and John Wilkinson< no role > went to Bear
Key and took out of a Barge belonging to Mr. Ryon
four Sacks of Wheat which they Put into a Shift and
carried to Ratcliff Cross Horse Ferry when Batchelor went
a Shore to look for a Coat Porter whom he found and
called his Name Jack when this Batchelor desired for
him to enquire for a Person to buy the said wheat
when this Jack before mentioned Recommended one
Tavenor to Buy the same when this Tavernor agreed to
give thirty Shillings for the said Wheat but upon a Sack
being missing the next morning he only paid a Guinea
On the 28 of December this Deponent with Thomas Morris< no role >
went into Barge at Dice Key and took out of the same
there sacks of Malt which they carried down to Ratcliff
Cross and put into asked belonging to one Mr. Berry
a Publican in Kings Head Ally in the Hamlet of
Ratcliff when this Deponent with Morris met Taveror
the next Morning at Berrys House when Morris told
him the said Tavernor he had three Sacks of Malt to
dispose off when he the said Tavernor agreed to Buy
the same and to give One Guinea and a half for the
same when he only took Six Bushell for which he
paid Morris half a Guinea and saw no more of Tavernorhimunto
the next day; that this Deponent went with Morris to
one Newell a Small Beer Bruser at Mile End whom they
told they had three sacks of Malt to dispose off but upon
coming to took at it found only Six Bushell Tavernor
having taken away Six Bushell before they Returned
which he the said Newell gave fifteen Shillings for
when this Deponent Morris and Newell carried away
to Mile End to theHouseShed of him the said Newell
