The Information of Matthew Haines< no role > and
Charles Hanford< no role > taken before me this
17th. day of February 1772

Who being upon Oath say and first the said Matthew Haines< no role > for himself
says that some time in July Last the Said Charles Hanford< no role > brought
to him a Promissory Note of John Hogg< no role > for fifty pounds payable to
Mr. Young or Order two Months after date and dated July 6th. 1771 to
discount the said promissory Note being then indorsed John Young< no role > James
Bolland< no role > Says he discounted the Said Promissory Note and gave the Said
Charles Hanford< no role > a Draught on his Banker for forty nine pounds
fourteen Shillings, says that a few days after the said Promissory
Note became due the Said Charles Hanford< no role > brought to this Informant
a Bill of Exchange now produced purporting to be the Bill of Exchange
of William Perryn< no role > upon Mr. James Pritchard< no role > Oxford Street London for
fifty two pounds ten Shillings payable to Lot Bosomworth Esqr. or
Order Two Months after Date and dated Dunstable Aug 19th. 1771
which said Bill was then assigned by Lot Bosomworth to James Bolland< no role >
or his Order, and assigned by James Bolland< no role > to this Informant or
his order desiring this informant to take the said Bill of
Exchange as the said Promissory Note was not paid, and saying he
came to this informant at the Request of James Bolland< no role > , says
that a few days afterwards he met the said James Bolland< no role > in
Holborn who then told this Informant that the said Bill of
Exchange would be paid as sure as his Name was Jemmy Bolland
and the said Charles Hanford< no role > for himself says that he has
known the said James Bolland< no role > some time who was late a
Sheriff's Officer and lived in Shire Lane , that he received
