The Information of Richard Weaser< no role >
Butler taken before me the 6th. day
of March 1768

Who being upon Oath says that no Person came to
General Conway's house to visit him on Tuesday last
after Dinner, nor to any other of the Servant to his
knowledge, Says that after he had Undressed General Conway
he waited in the Hall until he heard the General
go to Bed which he believes was about one o'Clock
that he then went into the Library put out the Fire
which was then in a Cow State by taking it off and
putting it under the Grate, that the Chair in which he
left the General Stood in the same place as did the
writing Desk says that the Armed Chair stood with
its back against the Book Case which was near the door
that the Candle left in the Room was upon a Mahogany
Table near the Bow Window where he has constantly
found the Candle after the General left the room to go to Bed
even since he hath undressed him which has been for
three Weeks Says that there were two Candles when to
left the room the first time on Tuesday night but one of which the
General took up to Bed with him says that the Candle who
he himself took away he carried into the Hall put it out and then
put it into a Basket with some knives and forks and
carried them together into theKitchenPantry then went to Bed
says that the Window Shutters in the Library were
fastened, because he saw the Firemen break them
open the next Morning Says he never saw General
Conway put away either Money or Notes in any place
whatever in his Library, Says that about five o'Clock
the next Morning the black boy came to the door
of Informants Room rattled it awoke him and
told him that the General's Room was on Fire says
