The Examination of Catherine Lindon< no role > taken before Me one
of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the said County

Who being charged on the Oath of Goulston Bruere < no role > upon Suspicion of
Feloniously taking and Carrying away a Bank Post Bill of the value of
Twenty Pounds the Property of George Stuart Bourne< no role > Esqr. Saith That
about a Fortnight ago as this Examinant was Standing at the Door of Grace
Jeffryes
< no role > a Man came by the Door Picked up a Letterunder [..] under the said Jeffryes
Window and gave it this Examinant And this Examinant put it in her Pocket and
there kept it for three days and upon Examining the said Letter which was
openthereofthis Examinant fount a News paper and a Bank Note in closed
in another Paper Which this Examinant attempted to get discounted And was
recommend by William Blacket< no role > to get it discounted at a Jews in Dukes place
and that five Shillings in the Pound was Proposed to be given the said Jew
for discounting the said Note by the said Blacket But this Examinant did not
go to the said Jews but only Part of the way as far as Saffronhill and after
drinking in an Alehouse the said Blacket and James Witherspoone< no role > returned
with this Examinant to a Publick house in a Street near Drury Lane where the said Blacket had Proposed to
get the said Note discounted And this Examinant delivered the said Note into the
said Alehouse mans hand who Said he wouldgavelend five Guineas for it and give a Note for the [..] when wanted And
because he would give no more this Examinant took it back again And this
Examinant Saith that about ten or eleven o'Clock this Morning this Examinant
went (being Sent for) to the said Witherspoons where the said Blacket again asked this
Examinant to go and get the said Note discounted to which this Examinant
answered That She did not chuse to do it for She should come into trouble
the Note being Advertized And afterwards the said Blacket and this Examinant
went to an Alehouse the Sign of the Drum in a Street in Drury Lane where the
drank some beer and then returned to Witherspoons with the said Blacket And the
said Blacket locked this Examinant and himself into a Room together at the said
Witherspoons where they continued till a Constable came and apprehended her
