The Information of James Witherspoone< no role > of St. Thomas's
Street Drury Lane in the County aforesaid Barber and Dorothy< no role > his
Wife taken before Me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the
County aforesaid

Who being on Oath severally say as followsAndThat on Sunday was Seven night
Catharine Lindon< no role > being at this Informant James Witherspoones< no role > Shop produced a Poster
Bank bill in the presence of these Informants and William Blacket< no role > and Thomas Yeats< no role > And the
said Catharine Lindon held the same up in her hand and Shewed it to this Informants and
the said other persons And the said Dorothy for herselfseverallySaith that this Informant
is positive that it was a Twenty pound bill And thinks and verily beleives that the
Word Post was [..] in large Characters upon the Upper part of the said bill And saith
that She doth not recollect the Name of the Person to whom the said Bill was Payable
but is certain the Word (Esqr.) followed the said Name And the said Catherine
Lindon
< no role > asking if [..] anybody knew where She could it discounted the said
Blacket then answered that he knew one Levi a Jew in Dukes Place that would
discount it five Shillings in the Pound And these Informants further Severally Say
that the said Catharine Lindon< no role > being at this Informant James Witherspoones< no role > said
Shop again last night the discourse of discounting the said Post bill was received
And the said Blacket then offered to get itdiscountdiscounted by one Levi a Jew
And this Informant James Witherspoone< no role > for himself further Saith that this
Informant and the said Catharine Lindon< no role > and the said Blacket set out from this
Informants in Order to go to the said Levi to get the said Bill discounted but this
Informant and the said Lindon & Blacket going into an Alehouse on Saffron hill to
drink Blacket then Objects agt going to said Levis then for he was not at home
And there upon said that one Mr. Morganwaswould discount Whereupon this Informant
and the said Blacket and Lindon went to the said Morgans house And the said
Morgan in this Informants hearing offered to lend five Guineas on the said Bill
but on asking the said Catharine Lindon< no role > some Questions afterwards declared he
would have nothing to do with it
