AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our sovereign Lord the King, at the Parish of
Saint Mary Matfellon otherwise White Chapell in the County of
Middlesex , the First Day of December in the twenty sixth Year of the Reign of
our sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
Thomas Willis< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
John Hammond< no role > , William Clarke< no role > , Benjamin Rice< no role > This name instance is in set 3176. , Charles Meyer< no role > , James Fletcher< no role > , William
Swan, Thomas Bedwell< no role > , Samuel Monk< no role > , Thomas Wright< no role > , John Foster< no role > , John Vango and
John Youings< no role >
good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said Thomas Willis< no role > came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That Owen Lynch< no role > late of the Parish of Barking in the
County of Essex Labourer on the third day of September in the twenty Fifth year of the Reign
of our said Lord the King with force and arms at the parish of Barking aforesaid in the
said County of Essex in and upon the said Thomas Willis< no role > in the peace of God and of our
said Lord the King then and there being feloniously did make an Assault And That the
said Owen Lynch< no role > with a certain Fork called a Potatoe fork of the value of six pence which he the said
Owen Lynch< no role > then and there had and held in both his hands him the said Thomas Willis< no role > in and upon
the right side of the Head of him the said Thomas Willis< no role > then and there feloniously did Hit and Strike
and that the said Owen Lynch< no role > did then and there give unto him the said Thomas Willis< no role > by the hitting and
striking aforesaid with the Fork aforesaid one mortal Fracture in and upon the said right side of the
Head of him the said Thomas Willis< no role > Of which said Mortal Fracture he the said Thomas Willis< no role > from the
said third day of September in the said twenty fifth Year of our said Lord the King until the twenty eighth day
of November in the twenty sixth Year of our said Lord the King at the parish of Saint Mary Matfellon otherwise
Whitechapell aforesaid in the said County of Middlesex to wit in a certain Hospital there called the London
Hospital did Languish and Languishing did live On which said twenty eighth day of November in the
Year last aforesaid in the Hospital aforesaid at the said Parish of Saint Mary Matfellon otherwise White Chapell in
the said County of Middlesex he the said Thomas Willis< no role > of the Mortal Fracture aforesaid did die and so the
Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Owen Lynch< no role > him the said Thomas Willis< no role >
in manner and by the Means aforesaid feloniously did Kill and Slay against the Peace of our said
Lord the King his Crown and Dignity

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said John Hammond< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
