An Inquisition indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the Parish of
Twickenham in the County of Middlesex the twenty second day of October in the
twenty fifth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third , by the Grace of God of
Great Britain France, and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth before
Thomas Phillips< no role > one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King, for the said County,
on View of the Body of Francis Aldous< no role > then and there lying dead upon the Oath
of Joseph Holmes< no role > , Paul Bellerjean< no role > , Richard Bowden< no role > , Ewen Carter< no role > , John Hayter< no role > , William Clarke< no role >

good and lawful Men of the said County duly chosen and who being then there duly
sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King when how and by what means
the said Francis Aldous< no role > came to hisDeath, Do upon their Oath say, That
James Leake< no role > late of the Parish of Chiswick in the County aforesaid Labourer on the eighteenth day of October in
the Year aforesaid with force and Arms at the Parish of Ealing in the said County in and upon the said
Francis Aldous< no role > in the peace of God and of our said Lord the King then and there being feloniously did make
an assault And the said James Leake< no role > with both his Hands him the said Francis aldous in and
upon the Head Shoulders Breast and Body of him the said Francis Aldous< no role > did then and there divers
times feloniously hit and strike and that the said James Leake him the said Francis Aldous< no role > by the
hitting and striking aforesaid did then and there violently and feloniously beat and force to the
Ground and did thereby then and there give to him the said Francis Aldous< no role > one mortal Concussion in and
upon the Brain of him the said Francis Aldous< no role > of which said Mortal Concussion he the said Francis Aldous< no role >
at the Parish of Twickenham aforesaid in the County aforesaid from the said eighteenth day of October in
the Year aforesaid until the twentieth day of the same Month in the same year did Languish and
Languishing did live on which said twentieth day of October in the same year at he said Parish of
Twickenham aforesaidin the County aforesaid he the said Francis Aldous< no role > of the mortal Concussion
aforesaid did die and so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say That the said James Leake< no role >
him the said Francis Aldous< no role > in manner and by their Oath aforesaid feloniously did hill and
Slay against the Peace of our said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity
In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Joseph Holmes< no role > the
Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of himself and the rest of his said Fellows in
their presence have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the day and year
first above written
