AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our sovereign Lord the King, at the parish
of Saint George in the County of
Middlesex , the third Day of April in the twenty third Year of the Reign of
our sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
James Taylor< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
Isaac Hill< no role > John French< no role > William Veazey< no role > Benjamin Robinson< no role > William Russell< no role >
John Adams< no role > Benjamin Gee< no role > Thomas Eames< no role > James Rande< no role > George Dunlop< no role >
William Eldridge< no role > James Cockran< no role > William Thurlby< no role > and George Creighton< no role >
good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said James Taylor< no role > came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That the said James Taylor< no role > on the Thirty first day
of March in the Year aforesaid being in an Open Boat on The River Thames
at the Precinct of Saint Catherine in the County aforesaid and being near a Ship lying
there called The Rosamond It so happened That One William Doll< no role > who was
coming down the Side of the said Ship then and there accidentally casually and,
by Misfortune fell on the said James Taylor< no role > and forced him into the said River
By Means whereof he the said James Taylor< no role > was in the Waters of the said
River then and there suffocated and Drowned Of which said Suffocation and
Drowning he the said James Taylor< no role > then and there died And so the Jurors
aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid Do say That the said James Taylor< no role > in
Manner and by the Means aforesaid accidentally casually and by Misfortune
Came to his Death

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Isaac Hill< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
