AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our sovereign Lord the King, at The Parish
of Saint Mary Stoke Newington in the County of
Middlesex , the Fifteenth Day of October in the Twenty second Year of the Reign of
our sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
William Garvey< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
John Staples< no role > , John Love< no role > , Richard Gwinnett< no role > This name instance is in a workspace. , William Dixon< no role > , Thomas Morton< no role > , James
Baker, Charles Kneeler< no role > , Edward Spencer< no role > , Francis Pierce< no role > William Campion< no role > , John Cettle< no role >

good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said William Garvey< no role > came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That the said William Garvey< no role > , on the Twelfth Day of
October in the Year aforesaid being at a Boarding School at the House ofSmith
situate in Church Street in the Parish and County aforesaid And having gone out at
One of The Garrett Windows of the said House in Order to take Hold of a Magpie which
was then upon the Tiling of the said House It so happened That in reaching for the
said Magpie he the said William Garvey< no role > then and there over reached himself and then
and there accidentally, casually and by Misfortune fell from the said Tiling to and against
the Stone Parapet upon a Wall in the Yard belonging to the said House By Means
[..] the said William [..] and there received One Mortal Fracture

[..] he the said William Garvey< no role > [..] there died [..]
upon their oath aforesaid do say That he said William Garvey< no role > in Manner and by the
means aforesaid accidentally, casually and by Misfortune came to his Death

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said John Staples< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
