AN INQUISITION Indented, Taken for our Sovereign Lord the King, at The Parish
of Saint Mary Matfellon otherwise White Chapell in the County of
Middlesex , the Fourteenth Day of March in the Twenty second Year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
John Carr< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
John Murray< no role > , Oliver Taylor< no role > , Richard Lloyd< no role > , Benjamin Clark< no role > , John Taylor< no role > , John Bowden< no role >
John Bracher< no role > , Charles Bell< no role > , Philip Hild< no role > , William Turvey< no role > , George Stockman< no role > , James
Wiltshire, Philip Scholey< no role > , William Wilson< no role > , Daniel Marchant< no role > , Isaac Davis< no role > and
Jonathan Brown< no role >
good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said John Carr< no role > came to his
Death, Do, upon their Oath, say, That Some Person or Persons to the Jurors aforesaid
as Yet unknown not having the Fear of God before his her or their Eyes out being moved
and seduced by the Instigation of the Devison the Sixteenth Day of February in the Year
aforesaid with Force and Arms at the Parish of Saint Luke in the County aforesaid in
and upon the said John Carr< no role > in the Peace of God and of our said. Lord the King then
and there being feloniously wilfully and of his, her or their Malice aforethought did make
an Assault And That the [..] Person or Persons to the Jurors aforesaid as yet unknown with
certain [..] one Shilling which the [..]

Year at the Parish of Saint [..] County aforesaid and at the Parish of Saint
Mary at Islington in the said County and also at the Parish of Saint Mary Malfellon otherwise
White Chapell aforesaid in the same County (to Wit) in a certain Hospital there situate called The
London Hospital did languish and languishing did live on which said Twelfth Day of March
in the Year aforesaid he the said John Carr< no role > in the Hospital aforesaid at the said Parish of Saint
Mary Matfellon otherwise White Chapell in the County aforesaid of the Mortal Wound aforesaid
did die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid Do say That the said Person or
Persons to the Jurors aforesaid as yet unknown him the said John Carr< no role > in Manner and by the
Means aforesaid feloniously, wilfully and of his her or their Malice aforethought did kill and murder
against the peace of our said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity
IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said John Murray< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
