Informations of Witnesses taken at the dwelling house of
William Lever such the Sign of the Red Lyon at Uxbridge
in the Parish of Uxbridge in the County of Middlesex on
Saturdaythe twenty seventh day of May 1786 Before
Edward Umfreville< no role > Esquire one of his Majesty< no role > 's Coroners for the said
County touching the death of Joseph Eagles< no role >
then and there lying dead as follow.

Richard West< no role > a waiter at the Crown Inn at
Uxbridge Upon his Oath Saith That onThursWednesday.
Evening last he came to the House of the above
named William Lever< no role > such with one Davies Dawell< no role >
to drink a Pint of beer & found the deceased in the
Tap Room who asked Deponent if he would give
him a Glass of Gin Deponent replied he would
give him half a Pint if he would drink it
deceased Said he would & accordingly Deponent
called for half a Pint of Gin and gave it deceased
who drank it & in about ten minutes time
Deceased asked for another half Pint and Deponent
ordered it gave it him & he drank that some
short time afterwards Deponent asked him if he
would drink it another he said Yes & he had it
and drank it and said it was Nothing but Water
and desired Deponent to give him another but
Deponent Would not and desired Mrs. Lever such
not to have any more and paid her for what deceased
had drank and then went back to the Crown
Says all this passed in about half an hour.
