An Inquisition indented [..]
Le Bone [..] Day of Feby in the 22d Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE [..] of Great Britain, France and Ireland, KING, Defender of
the Faith, Etc. before Edward Umfreville one of the Coroners of Our said Lord
KING, for the said County, on view of the body of Luke Layton< no role > an Infant
then and there lying dead, upon the oath of Joseph Yeend< no role > , John
Coleman, Ralph Hare< no role > , Henry Cooper< no role > , John Armstrong< no role > , John Dodd< no role > , Thomas
Mellish, William Lowe< no role > , William Newman< no role > , Daniel Jones< no role > , Matthew
Brown Thomas Stevenson< no role > , William Canburn< no role > , Daniel Green< no role > , George
Westcott George Green< no role > and Jonathan Alderton< no role >

good and lawful Men of the said County duly chosen as by Law required, and who being then and there duly sworn
and charged to enquire for our said Lord the KING, when, how, and by what means the said Luke Layton< no role >
came to h is Death, Do upon their Oath say, That The said Luke
Layton in the Thirteenth Day of February in the Year aforesaid being an
Infant of the Age of Eleven Years or thereabouts And being Walking along
the Road in the Parish and County aforesaid It so happened That a certain
G [..] n called a Fowling Piece which OneThomasWilliam Richards then and there had
and held under his Arm loaded with Gun Powder and Shot then and there accidentally
casually and by Misfortune went off and was discharged By Means whereof
he the said Luke Layton< no role > did then and there received One Mortal Wound
in and when the Body of him the said Luke Layton< no role > Of which said Mortal wound
he the said Luke Layton< no role > then and there died And so the Jurors aforesaid
upon their Oath aforesaid do say That the said Luke Layton< no role > in Manner
and by the Means aforesaid accidentally casually and by Misfortune came
to his Death And That the said Fowling Piece is of the Value of Two Shillings
and Six pence and the Property and in the Possession of the said William
Richards

In Witness whereof, as well as the said Coroner, as the said Joseph Yeend the Foreman of
the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows, in their presence, have to this Inquisition set their
Hands and Seals the Day of Year first abovementioned
