Depositions of Witnesses taken at
London that is to say, at the Parish of
Saint Mart at Hill in the Ward of
Billings gate in London aforesaid
this 11th: day of August 1797 on view
of the Body of William Rand< no role > now
here lying Dead

Charles Stow< no role > Clerk to Messrs. Roebuch & Compy.
of St Mary at Hill London Grocers maketh Oath
that between two & three o Clock yesterday afternoon
Mint [..] a black Man Servant to Mr. Ms Roebuch
one of the Partners came into the Compling House where
Dept. was & sayed he had been into the Cellar to look
at his Rat traps he had set & saw a Man lying
there Dept took a Candle & went into the back
Cellar under the house and in a part of the Cellar
used for keeping of Coals he saw the deced (Willm Rand< no role >
who has been a Clerk to Messrs. Roebuch & Compy.
several year) laying with his face downwards &
Dept. called up stairs to Mr. Key whom Dept. had
left in the Compling house that Mr. Key came into
the Cellar & he & Dept. went to the deced & examined
him. That he was quite Cold a great quantity of blood
under him and a Razor in his right hand
That he has known the deced about ten yearsThat
the deced has appeared very much dejected [..] low
spirited & melancholy this Month pastThat
about twelve Months since the deced [..] Dept
has been informed & very believes) was confined in
a private Mad house on accot. of his being deranged.

maketh oath that between two & three yesterday
afternoon Dept.being called & by [..] slowed the last Witness
wentinto the Cellar & found the deced [..] in the
situation described by the last Witness
