Southwark Deposition of a Witness taken at the Parish
of Saint John within the Borough of Southwark
in the County of Surrey this 17th. day of July
1797 on view of the Body of Thomas Paine< no role >
now here lying Dead.

Ann Wife of Charles Fulwood< no role > of the George in the parish
of Saint John within the Borough of Southwark
in the County of Surrey maketh Oath that the
deced has been Servant to him her Husband about three Weeks
That about a little after three oClock on Friday last the deced
[..] having been out brought two
pence to Dept. and requested to have a Farthing to
take to ye a person at you Stairs (meaning George Stairs) who her had a
pint of Beer-Dept. gave the deced a farthing
that he went out with it and in about five
Minutes Dept. heard a Boy was drowned
That some persons got a Grapple from Depts. house
and in about half an hour the deced Thomas Pain< no role >
Depts. servant was brought into Dept. house
that means were used to restore the deced but
without effect
