aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to
inquire for our said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said

came to his death say upon their oath that the said

the thirtieth day of April in the year aforesaid at the Parish and Ward aforesaid in London
aforesaid not being of sound mind memory and understanding but lunatic and distracted
a certain pistol of the value of six pence loaded with gunpowder and leaden bullet
which he the said

in his right hand then and there had and held
to at and against the head of himself the said
Joseph Railton< no role >
did then and there shoot
off and discharge giving to himself then and there with the said leaden bullet so shot
off and discharged from the said pistol by force of the gunpowder aforesaid one mortal
wound in and upon the said head of him the said

of the width of half an
inch and of the depth of five inches of which said mortal wound he the said

did then and there die.And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do
say that the said

not being of sound mind memory and understanding
but lunatic and distracted did shoot and kill himself In Witness whereof as well the
said Coroner as the said

of the said Jurors on behalf of
himself and the rest of his fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set
their hands and seals the day year and place first abovewritten.
