Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say, at the Parish of Saint Botolph
without Aldgate in the Ward of Portsoken
in London aforesaid this 4th day of February
1797 in view of the body of John Resbridge< no role >
now here lying Dead.

Joseph Cook< no role > of No. 9 Blue Hurt Court Bell Yard Coleman Street
London Carpenter maketh Oath about ½ past ten Yesterday Morning
(Dept. the deced) Richard Attnease Richard Jolly< no role > & John Brickells< no role >
were employed in a Ward house that is building for the East India< no role >
Company adjoining Petticoat Lane that Jolly & Brickell were
upon the joist of the first floor. That Attneave had hold of a Rope
belonging to a tackle on one side & the deced had hold of a Rope belonging
to the tackle on the other side and were standing on the Ground
floor in the out of hoisting a large piece of timber called a Cap for a joint up
to the first floor in order to place it [..] under the [..] Girder
of the joistthat they had got it up and placed a stone under it.
That Dept. looked up & saw both the shore and Cap falling Dept.
called to the deced & told him it was falling Dept. had scarce spoke
before the shore & Cap fell upon the decedDept. went to him
& lifted the Shore & Cap from off the deced that the deced had
received a large wound upon the upper part of the back part of his
HeadDept. asked the deced if he was hurt he could give no
answer appearing quite insensible & in a few Minutes was quite
dead
