Depositions of Witnesses taken at London that
is to say at the Parish of
in the Ward of Cheap in London aforesaid this
27th. day of August 1796 on view of the Body of
Jeremiah Rhoydes< no role > now here lying Dead

Sarah Leaver< no role > Widow maketh oath that she hath had the
care of the deceds house Mr. Jeremiah Rhoydes< no role > of No 28 Buckles
bury for these five Weeks part that during that time the Family
has beenin the Countryat a House at Hempstead but she deced usually came to Town in the
Morning and return'd to Hempstead in the Evening That a little
after nine this Morning the deced and his Wife came home That
they went into a little Room on the Ground Floor that a little while
after Deponent being in the Kitchen on the Ground Floor saw the
deced go up Stairs & a little while after Dept. heard a report of fire
Arms That soona little whileafter Dept. went up Stairs and being on the
landing place of the one Mr. of Stairs her Mistress who was then
in the dining Room called to her Dept. then went up tothea two
hair of stairs back Room in order to clean it that it was then about ¼ to ten that the Door was
a little open upon going in Dept. saw he Master the deced lying
a cross the Bed and a quantity of blood about him that a Pistol
was lying on the Floor between the Bed and the Window
Dept. than gave the alarm That 9th Man Servant was in the Kitchen
and two or three Clerks in the Counting house that no other
persons were in the House That Dept. has known the deced about
seventeen years That for this fortnight part she has observed a
great charge in the deced That he has appeared very low spirited
his Appetite has failed him very much Dept. has observed
to the Man Servant lately her Masters behaviour his appearing in
so low a way that he looked very shy and appeared [..] as if he wished or wanted [..] to avoid
people that he looked Wild with his Eyes and Dept. observed to
her fellow Servant that she was afraid her Master (the deced) he was going to be in the same way
his Brother was who has been deranged near four years part
and whom she believes is now under the care of some Medical
Persons That the deced came into the Kitchen yesterday which was
what he never did before That he then looked very wild with his
Eyes and stared very much which was the reason of Dept. making
the observation to her fellow servant then Morning
