Depositions of Witnesses taken at the parish of
Saint Bartholomew the Less in the ward of
Farringdon without in London aforesaid this
19th. day of June 1794 on view of the Body of
Edward Lewis< no role > now here lying Dead

Robert Richards< no role > of No Hugheis Court Water Lane Black
friars a Groom maketh Oath that about ½ past six in the afternoon
of Monday (Dept. believes) last Dept. was on a Horse upon Black
Brain Bridge that hearing a Noise Dept looked [..] towards
Chatham place and saw a Cart drawn by two Horses on the Bridge passiing towards Chatham Place that the
decad who appeared to be the Drivers was on the near side of the
Horses with a whit in his Hand and was endeavouring to the
the Shaft Horse that the Horses were going on very fast and she
Shaft Horse was kicking very violently that the decad took hold
of the Bridle of the Shaft Horse the Horses then going very fast
Best [..] the fore Horse not going so fast as the Shaft Horse the Chain
Hardened and the decad got entangled with the Chain that the
decad fell under the Shaft Horses Legs & then the Near Wheel
went over the Body of the deced that the [..] fore Horse
afterwards falling down the Horses were stopt that the deced
lay on the Ground and appeared very much hurt that
a great in and gathered round the deced that some person placed
him on his bottom but he appeared incapable of sitting up with soul
Golding that soon after the deced was placed on a Board
for the purpose of being taken to an Hospital as Dept. understood
that Dept. saw the decad this afternoon lying dead in St. Barthol-
-omew Hospital
