Southwark Depositions of Witnesses taken at the
parish of Saint John within the Borough
of Southwark in the County of Surrey
this 24th. day of December 1793 on view
of the Body of Robert Perry< no role >
now here lying Dead

Moses Mathew< no role > a Mariner belonging to the Brig two
Sisters whereof John Branch< no role > is Master of North Shields now
lying at Horsley Down lower Tier maketh Oath that he
hath known the deced Robert Perry< no role > about three Weeks
that he was a Mariner belonging to the said Vessel that about five OClock in the Evening of Friday last the deced
and Dept. got into a Boat belonging to the said Vessel and
then lying a stern of the Vessel in order to move the said Boat
from thence round to the Head of the Vessel thinking the Boat
might be in Danger it being a very Foggy Night< no role > and Craft
passing up and down the River might run foul of her
that Dept. was in the Stern of the Boat and the decedDept.in the
head of her that [..] while
he moving the Boat the deced reached his hand out
to push the Boat form a Lighter lying near that the deced
had got his hand on the Lighter and was pushing from the
Lighter in order to get the Boats Bow round the Lighter
while he was so doing the Boat went off from th Lighter
and the [..] deced having over reached himself fell into
the Water and sunk under the Water-that the Boat having
sprung off with the Tide it then ebbing very fast Dept.
could not get near the deced-Dept. immediately halloed
to the people on board the Vessel-that Dept. saw the
deced about Eleven OClock Yesterday Morning lying Dead
in a Lighter near the place were he had fallen in
