Depositions of Witnesses taken at
the Workhouse of Saint Olave situate
in the parish of Saint John within the
Borough of Southwark in the County
of Surrey this 4th. day of September
1793 on view of the Body of William
Clarkson now here lying Dead

John Robinson< no role > belonging to the schooner called the
Forth of Greennock in Scotland now lying in Billings
-gate Dock London whereof William Thompson< no role > is
Master maketh Oath that the deced who was a Cousin
of Depts. and whom he hath known ever since he (Dept.)
[..] was four years of Age was a Mariner belonging
to the said Vessel that his name was William Clarkson< no role >
that on Friday last between nine and ten in the Morning
Dept. and the deced were going off to the said Vessel
in a Boat belonging to the Vessel with Breakfast for
themselves and the rest of the Crew. that in going to the
Vessel then lying at one of the Chains off Billingsgate it being a strong [..] the Boat got across
the said Vessels Bow that Dept. was in the stem of
the Boat and the deced in the Bow of her-that the
deced leaned over the Bow of the Boat and with his
hand endeavoured to push the Boat off clear of the
Bow of the Vessel while he was so doing he by some means
fell overboard and the tide running very strong he
immediately sunk under the water and Dept. saw
no more of him until this afternoon when he saw him
lying Dead in Saint Olaves Workhouse
