An Inquisition Indented for our Sovereign Lord the King at London
that is to [..] at the parish of Saint Bartholomew the greatSepulchrein the ward of Farrington without in London
aforesaid on the ninth day of October in the thirty second year of the reign of our sovereign
Ford George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King
defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for
the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the Body of Mary Spencer< no role > now here
lying dead by the Oath of Daniel Neale< no role > , William Castle< no role > , Michael Wilkin< no role > , Griffiths, Robert< no role >
Minchin John Gay< no role > , Henry Tyler< no role > , Joseph Reynolds< no role > , William Allen< no role > , John Brown< no role > , John Beal< no role > ,
John Goater< no role > , George Thomas< no role > , John Dolphin< no role > , and John Blackett< no role > , good and lawful men of the
City of London aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our
said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said Mary Spencer< no role > came
to her death say upon their Oath that [..] sixth day, of October in the year aforesaid
a certain dray drawn by two horses then and there being and coming out of a certain
Inn on the north side of the Kings common Highway called Holborn Bridge situate
in the parish of Saint Sepulchre in the Ward aforesaid and the said Mary Spencer< no role > being then and there going
and passing along the said Common and public highway It so happened that the off wheel of
the said dray accidentally casually and by misfortune of [..] upon nd over the legs of
said Mary Spencer< no role > by means whereof she the said Mary Spencer< no role > did then and there
receive divers mortal bruises and Fractures in and upon the right thigh and legs of her
the said Mary Spencer< no role > of which said mortal bruises and fractures she the said Mary
Spencer from the said sixth day of October in the year aforesaid until the ninth day of
to some month of October in the year aforesd as well also at the said parish of Saint
Sepulchre in the Ward aforesaid as also at the said parish of Saint Bartholomew the
less did languish and languishing did live On which said ninth day of October in the
year aforesaid in the parish and Ward last aforesaid of the said bruises and fractures did die
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Mary Spencer< no role >
in manner and by the means aforesaid accidentally casually and by misfortune was killed
and that the of wheel of the said Cart was moving to the death o the said Mary Spencer< no role >
and is of the value of 5s and is the property and in the possession of a certain hours or persons
to the Jurors unknown In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Daniel Neal< no role >
the foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows have in their
presence to this Inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place first above
written.
