An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the Parish of Saint Magnus
the Martyr in the Ward of Bridge in London aforesaid on the twenty sixth day of September in the thirty
First Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France
and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth Before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our
said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the Body of man
whose name is unknown now here lying dead by the Oath of Charles Bartum< no role > Junior John Sutherland< no role >
James Bedard< no role > Thomas Woollard< no role > Jonas Moxcy< no role > William Ball< no role > Stephen Kent< no role > John Dixon< no role >
John Gillett< no role > Arckybell Beard< no role > John Biggs< no role > Robert Huxley< no role > William Bear< no role > and Robert Sangster< no role >
good and lawful men of the Parish and Ward aforesaid who being now here duly Chosen Sworn
and Charged to inquire for our said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said Man
unknown came to his death say upon their Oath that a certain person whose name is unknown on the twenty fourth
day of September in the Year aforesaid being carefully driving a certain Cart drawn by three
Horses along and through a certain public and Common Highway and over a Certain Bridge
there called London Bridge and the said Man unknown being also going and passing
over the said Bridge accidentally casually and by misfortune fell on the ground near to the said
Cart while the same was passing on as aforesaid By means whereof the near Wheel of the
said Cart did then and there casually and by misfortune go upon and pass over the Body of
the said Man unknown by reason whereof the said Man unknown did then and there receive
divers Mortal Wounds and bruises in and upon his body of which said Mortal Wounds and
bruises the said Man unknown did then and there die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their
Oath aforesaid do say that the said Man unknown in manner and by the means aforesaid
Casually and by misfortune was accidentally killed And that the said near Wheel of the said
Cart was moving to the death of the said Man unknown and is of the value of five Shillings
and the property and in the Possession of a Certain person or persons whose name or Names
is or are unknow In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Charles
Bartram Junior< no role > the Foreman of the said Jurors and Behalf of himself and the rest of his
Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the day
Year and place first above written.
