put themselves in a posture to fight and some blows
passed between them that they closed with each
other and Stanton put his hand towards the deced
and pushed the deced from him by which means
the deced fell down on his Back upon the Stones in
the yard. that one of the prisoners [..] tried to lift
him up while he was so doing the deced appeared to make
a sudden spring or start to get up and in so doing he fell
forwards with his forehead upon the Stones in the yard
that the deced not getting up one of the prisoners went to
lift him up and discovered he was dying that soon after
he appeared to be quite dead that during the whole time
Deponent has known the deced and Stanton they always
seemed upon good terms and friendly to each other

on a charge of felony makeththatOath that between the
hours of eight and nine in the Morning of yesterday Dept.
being in the yard of said prison saw the deced and Stanton
with some other prisonerr come into the yard that Stanton
asked the deced for his Bazill Strings the deced sayed he
had planted them somewhere upon Stanton turning his
back [..] Dept. saw the deced cutting some
Strings with a Knife that soon after Stanton again asked
the deced for the Strings the deced sayed he should not give
them that immediately after some blows passed between
them but which struck first Dept. can't say that
