Southwark

Depositions of Witnesses taken at the
Parish of Saint George within the Borough of
Southwark in the County of Surrey the 20th:
day of December 1790 on view of the body of
John Elsey< no role > now here lying Dead.

Richard Lester< no role > a Prisoner in His Majesty's new Gaol for the
County of Surrey maketh Oath that he hath known the deceased
John Elsey< no role > about four Months
that he was also a Prisoner in the said Gaol that he hath been into
the Hospital of the said Gaol the most of that time ill
with a fever that he was also afflicted with a Sore in him
right Leg that he continued to get much worse for there
last three Weeks that he continued very ill until
Saturday Night last when he departed this Life that
he was attended by the Surgeon of the said Gaol and
Dept. has no doubt the Fever occasioned the deceased's
Death.
