Depositions of Witnesses taken at the Parish of
Saint John within the Borough of Southwark in
the County of Surrey the 26th. day of November
1790 on view of the Body of William Raymond< no role >
now here lying Dead.

David Wattran< no role > Apprentice to Mr: Williams of Pembroke in the County
of Pembroke the Owner of the Resolution Brig whereof Henry Phillips< no role >
is Master now lying at Horsley down Chain in the River Thames [..]
which Vessel Deponent has sailed in sometime part maketh Oath
that the deced was a Mariner belonging to the said Vessel that
about ½ past the hour of three in the Afternoon of Wednesday last
the Master of said Vessel called from the Shore for the Boat
belonging to said Vessel to fetch him on board that Dept. being
then in the Hold of the said Vessel was going on Deck and as he
was going up he observed the deced who [..] had been on the Deck
of said Vessel get over a Board into the Chains of said Vessel
for the purpose as Dept. thinks to have the Boat up to fetch the
Captain on board that Dept. [..] followed after the deced and
on going do the Chains he observed the deced in the Water about five
or six yards from the Vessel that the deceds head was just above the
surface of the Water and he seemed to be struggling in the Water that [..] in
about [..] a Minute the deced sunk under the Water and Deponent
saw [..] nothing more of the deced at that time that no person was near
the deced at the time he went into the Chains and that he believe
the deced accidentally fell into the Water that he saw the deced
taken up out of the Water yesterday noon about twelve OClock
dead.
