Depositions of Witness taken at the Parish of
Saint John within the Borough of Southwark
in the County of Surrey the 17th. day of February
1790 in view of the Body of Nicholas Lihen< no role >
then and there lying Dead

Thomas Thompson< no role > a Lodger at the Waterman Arms Lower Thames
Street in the City of London Labourer maketh Oath that Yesterday
Morning [..] about four o Clock Dept. was watching a Lighter
Loaded with wines off George's Stairs. That the deced was also watching
a Lighter loaded with Hemp That the Lighter the deced was in lay
a head of that which Dept. was in. That the Tide having turned the
deced moved his [..] Lighter in order that she might wing with the
Tide [..] to make a clear Passage for the craft to pass up and
down the River that the deced endeavouring to make a Rope part to
the head of ship that lay mean the Lighter he was in over eached
himself and fell head foremost into the River and Dept. saw nothing
of him [..] Yesterday forenoon when he saw him [..] lying
Dead in a Boat that passed by the lighter Dept. was in that
there was no person near the deced when he fell into the Water but
his following in happened by accidental before stated.
