Depositions of Witnesses taken at the Parish
of Saint George within the Town and Borough
of Southwark in the County of Surrey the
14th. day of January 1790 on view of the
Body of Daniel Ortyen< no role > then and there
lying Dead

Susannah Wife of Daniel Ortyen the deceased of No. 8 May
Pole Alley in the Parish of Saint George Southwark maketh
Oath thaton Wednesday ofabout the hour of One in the After
noon of Yesterday the 13th. instant Dept. was going up to a one
pair of Stairs Room in the said house where Dept. and her
husband the deced usually Slept in order to desire him to get up that she had not gone [..]
above halfway up the Stairs when the observed the deced
(the Door being open) hanging by a small Cord fastened to a
hook in the Wall that Dept ran down stairs again and
made a Noise but no person comeing Dept. went up and
cut the deced down-that a Surgeon was sent farand
who came and bled the deced and used his endeavours to
recover the deced but without effect for he never recovered
that the deced had lain a bed all that Morning that he
had not been above three Weeks out of the New Goal
where he had been confirmed for Dept that sined the
has been out of the said Goal he has been very Melancholy
and Dull seemed very much disturbed in his Mind
that he eat very little and seemed rather fond of drinking
which Dept. imputed to his state of Mind he having been
so dull and Melancholy.
