Continued Thursday the 28th April 1796
the Estate of Sarjeant who is insolvent and retain all the
Materials upon the Premises and that the Assignees should
release the Hospital from all Claims for the work done and
Materials provided by him and the Committee recommended to
the Court that the above proposal should be accepted.
And that the Committee had Ordered that the Surveyor
should prepare the Particulars and Estimate of the expence
of Building a Mens Prison agreeably to the Plans and
Elevations approved of by the Committee on the 11th. February
and that Advertizements should be inserted for receiving
proposals for executing the Works.
And had Ordered that a Green Baize Door should be
made for the Committee Room
And that decent Cloathing should be provided for
Frances Clark< no role >
a Prisoner
who has behaved in a very
exemplary manner at an expence not exceeding two
Guineas and that she be permitted to remain in the
House till the next Committee
And that an Advertizement should be inserted in the Papers
informing the Public that there are frequently Female Prisoners
in the House who discover favorable dispositions to become
useful Servants
The Minutes of the Bethlem Committe of the following days were
read whereby it appeared
March 22d.
That the Committee were of Opinion the repairs recommended
by the Surveyor as absolutely necessary to be done for the preservation
of the Hospital
in the Course of the present year should be
carried into execution as soon as the same should have received
the sanction of the Court
That the Committee had contracted for Meat baking bread
and Candles for Six Months and for Beer Milk Straw Slops
